Abortion and christianity
Religious views on abortion vary among Americans who claim to be part of the 80% majority of Christians in the US. However, most born again Christians who believe that the Bible is the absolute, infallible Word of God, adhere to a doctrinal position that poses reasons against the procedure based on a Scriptural view of man. Man was created higher than animals in the hierarchy of creation and was in fact, "created in the image of God" (Genesis 1:26-27). This understanding of Biblical truth has set the stage for logical and powerful anti-abortion arguments that are based in the worth of a person whether inside or outside the womb. To learn more about what the Bible says about abortion, please take this. It is true that believers cannot point to the specific command from the Bible that states, "Thou shalt not commit abortion." The Word of God doesn't state the anti-abortion stance in so many words. Rather, the sixth commandment, "Thou shalt not kill", is widely held as the axis on which all anti-abortion arguments rotate. Reasons against abortion rest on cumulative as well as absolute biblical statements that indicate God's perspective about the importance of human life. From the Old Testament to the New, there is a cumulative body of evidence that adds Scriptural weight to reasons against abortion. The opening scenario of the creation provides early evidence of the importance of humanity as male and female were created in the image of God. From there, passages that refer to the important and purposes of all human beings are abundantly peppered throughout the Scriptures which has added weight to religious views on abortion. In Jeremiah 1:5 the Word of the Lord states in reference to the prophet, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee...". In Psalms 139:13-16 the reference to God's knowledge and involvement in the human creation is quite apparent. "My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret and in thy book all my members were written...when as yet there was none of them" are all passages that extol the human creation of an almighty God.

Reason women choose abortion
About 30% of pregnant teens choose to have an abortion. About 60% of women under age 18 having an abortion have a parent who knows of the abortion; the majority of these parents support their daughters' decision. In the United States, about 6 million women become pregnant per year.7 Half of all pregnancies are unintended, and of all births, about 1 in 10 newborns have been reported as "unwanted."Each year, about 1.3 million American women have an abortion to end a pregnancy. This number reflects a declining abortion rate, in part because more women are using emergency contraception to prevent unintended pregnancy in the first days after unprotected sex. The most common reasons women consider abortion are:
Birth control (contraceptive) failure. Over half of all women who have an abortion used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant.Inability to support or care for a child. To end an unwanted pregnancy. To prevent the birth of a child with birth defects or severe medical problems. Such defects are often unknown until routine second-trimester tests are done. Pregnancy resulting from rape or incest. Every year, about 13,000 women choose abortion after suffering rape or incest. Physical or mental conditions that endanger the woman's health if the pregnancy is continued.

Abortion Risks
In general, abortion has a higher risk of complications than contraception or sterilization, especially for young women. The risk of complications from an abortion is related to the length of the pregnancy and the abortion method used. The longer a woman has been pregnant, the greater the risk. Complications are uncommon when an abortion is performed by a trained health care practitioner in a hospital or clinic.
The uterus is perforated by a surgical instrument in 1 of 1,000 abortions. Sometimes the intestine or another organ is also injured. Severe bleeding occurs during or immediately after the procedure in 6 of 10,000 abortions. Some techniques can tear the cervix, especially during the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.
Later, infections or blood clots in the legs may develop. Bleeding can occur if part of the placenta is left in the uterus. Very rarely, sterility results from scarring of the uterine lining due to the procedure or a subsequent infection—a disorder called Asherman's syndrome. If the fetus has Rh-positive blood, a woman who has Rh-negative blood may produce Rh antibodies—as in any pregnancy, miscarriage, or delivery. Such antibodies may endanger subsequent pregnancies unless the woman is given injections

Cons Of Abortion
Abortion does not give the child that is in the womb a chance at life. It is wrong and looked down upon by a lot of religions. Some women use abortion as a type of birth control. They sleep with men and do not use protection and think nothing of it to go to the clinic as many as five times in their life to have an abortion. A con against abortion is the nagging thought that a woman went to a clinic, had an abortion, and thus the world was prevented from seeing the birth of the only person capable of attaining a leadership role and initiating a peace accord between warring factions in the Middle East, thus preventing decades of strife and murder. A stable home life is not a guarantee of talent, and illegitimate children have shown themselves to be very bright on occasion, Lawrence of Arabia for one.
Another con, is that the child who never lived, may have invented a cure for cancer (had he lived). Think about that, if you’re for abortion, the next time you walk into a hospital to have a mysterious growth on your breast checked out. Having an abortion always lessens your chances for having children later in life. Even though it doesn't happen to many women, you could be the one to miss out on your once in a life time chance to have your baby.
There are other options. You can give your baby up for adoption and give your child a chance at life. If looked at at the religious aspect, God gave you the opportunity to have a baby for a reason, you should not throw that chance away.
If you laid down in the bed and weren't responsible, you should take responsibility for your actions and take care of the child you created. Abortion is the lazy way out.
If you have an abortion you will always wonder what if, and feel guilty for the rest of your life about the child you could have had.

Anti Abortion
Protestors are using violant methods such as arson, firebombing, and vandalism. Which started in the early 1970's in the U.S. Most of the violence appears to be the acts of religiously-motivated criminals acting alone. In recent cases involving the assassination and attempted murder of abortion providers in both the U.S. and Canada have shown that perpetrators appear to be sheltered by a network of sympathizers.
In recent years, the term "anti-abortion" has been used to identify individuals and groups which employ violence and murder to attain their political ends. They are differentiated from the vastly larger "pro-life" movement which rejects violence against persons and property. Both the pro-life and anti-abortion movements are motivated by one concept:
From this principle, it naturally follows that a newly fertilized ovum, an embryo and a fetus are all human persons who should be granted the same rights, privileges and protections as a child or adult. Some view an abortion clinic as the ethical equivalent of a Nazi death camp.
The pro-choice movement generally teaches that the fetus becomes a human person later in gestation, when it loses its neck structures which resemble gill slits, when it loses its tail, when it begins to look human, is viable, is born, or at some other transition point between conception and birth. From this viewpoint, a woman's access to a safe and affordable early abortion is viewed as a human right.

Level of violence and harassment at abortion clinics
One source reported in late 1996, that there has been "over $13 million in damage caused by violent anti-abortion groups since 1982 in over 150 arson attacks, bombings, and shootings." 1
Many pro-choice individuals and groups blame these criminal acts on the most violent extremists in the pro-life movement. Some believe that the violent rhetoric heard from pro-lifers motivates the more radical pro-life fringe to resort to violence.
Many pro-life individuals and groups blame the violence on groups which are quite separate from the pro-life movement -- people who have little regard for human life.
